<p>1. Make sure to sign up for a new email address. With a new user name and password. Also get your own computer so your spouse will not have access to it.<br />
2. Get a post office box so you can receive communications from your divorce attorney.<br />
3. Get your own cell phone account<br />
4. Get a copy of your credit report &#8211; Make any corrections if necessary.<br />
5. Open a new bank account, use a new address for this account<br />
6. Make copies of all your tax forms<br />
7. Video your property, identify items that were gifts or inherited, and which items you brought into the marriage.<br />
8. Apply for your own credit cards<br />
9. Consider closing or freezing joint accounts<br />
10. Request an earning statement for you and your spouse from the Social Security Administration</p>
